Audition Outline
PHASE 1 Process – students enter and play one at a time in letter order. After completion students will receive a pass with “Thank you your audition is completed” or “Pass on to phase two” If phase one is not passed your audition is over (please leave campus ASAP and go home).

PHASE 2 Process – students perform in groups of 6 to 12 (except small inst. sections could be smaller groups) Scores will be earned and students ranked as close to region guidelines as possible.
PHASE 2 Wind Instruments includes
Round 1 - Chromatic Scale (50 pts) and excerpt of Lyrical Etude (100 pts) (group)
Round 2 - Technical Etude cut (100 pts) (group)
Round 3 – Rhythm Sight-reading (50 pts) (individual)
PHASE 2 Percussion includes – (8 to 15 per group)
Round 1 – Snare rudiment (50 pts) and excerpt from the snare etude (100 pts) (group)
Round 2 – Mallet excerpt (100 pts) (group)
Round 3 – Timpani excerpt (100 pts) (group)
Round 4 – Rhythm Sight-reading (50 pts) (individual)
NON-PHASED Instruments Process – Both phases in the same room for each instrument just add another round. All students of one instrument come in sit down to receive instructions then proceed by letter to perform.
